Dogz Quilt Pattern PDF

I’m a dog lover and have two dogs yet I’ve put off designing a dog block for the simple reason that there are too many varieties, each with their distinctive features. I'd hate to be caught playing favourites. In the end I’ve plunged in and created a set of ‘pointy’ dogs heads with enough variety of block sizes and body widths to fill a kennel.

The main show of character though, is in the ears. The easiest ears are sewn in and pointy but the excitement is in the three dimensional - these flappy ones are made to suit the look of your favourite pooch. Varying the eyes and fur also should be enough to have appropriate representation of a fair proportion of our canine buddies. I think I’ve got a fair dog show of coverage! If you have a round-faced dog I suggest adapting the Catz pattern with appropriate dog earz. Catz could make nice bulldogz!

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

This PDF quilting pattern includes full fabric requirements, cutting instructions and step-by-step assembly guidance. You may customise it to your desired quilt size.

Sample size - 46” x 52” (117 cm x 132 cm)
Dogz – 1 1⁄ 2 yd (1.5 m) of assorted black, brown and white fabrics
Nosez – a fat eighth of a black solid
Sky – 2 1⁄ 2 yd (2.3 m) of a blue print
Fence – a fat quarter of a white print
Grass – 1 1⁄ 2 yd (1.4 m) of a green print
Soil – a fat quarter of a brown print
Bone – a small piece of a neutral print
Binding – 1⁄ 2 yd (50 cm) of a blue print
also needed; backing, batting & thread

With freeform blocks like this, fabric requirements will vary from quilt to quilt. I give you minimums only. Be generous with your purchases as extra can always be used in the backing.
