Hatz Quilt Pattern PDF

Demand for Hatz has been so constant that I committed to new block, then set about to improve my millinery skills. As a result we have three blocks to work with; 6”, 8” and 10” Hatz. Variety enough for any head. Easy enough for anyone to make. With a multitude of ways to change and decorate them, the joy in making these blocks becomes quickly apparent.

Make your hats tall, regular or short. Round off the body or leave it flat. Turn the brim up or turn it down. Include a hat band or leave them plain. Trim with ribbonz, bowz, rosez or buttons. Now place these designer delights on hat boxes, float them in a block, stack them on each other or perch them on hat stands or heads. Instructions are included for Hat Standz.

Perhaps theme your Hatz blocks – from a day at the beach, a day at the races to every Mad Hatters tea party in between. I’m not a hat wearer myself but I secretly look forward to playing ladies in the future.

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

This PDF quilting pattern includes full fabric requirements, cutting instructions and step-by-step assembly guidance. You may customise it to your desired quilt size.

Sample size - 48” x 69 1/2” (122 cm x 177 cm)
Backgrounds – a fat quarter each of twelve green prints
Hatz standz, sashing, inner border & binding – 11/4 yd black solid
Outer border – 3/4 yd black/white stripe
Hatz – fat eighth each of twelve black prints
also needed; batting, backing, thread and desired embellishments

With freeform blocks like this, fabric requirements will vary from quilt to quilt. I give you minimums only. Be generous with your purchases as extra can always be used in the backing.
