Neck Tiez, Bow Tiez Quilt Pattern PDF

The quilt you see is the first Tiez quilt. It was inspired purely by the fabric from which it was made. I was given a new range of fabrics to work with and the pieces were long, thin and tiny with a variety of spots, stripes and masculine prints. I instantly knew what I wanted to do with it all!

The resulting Neck Tiez and Bow Tiez blocks are given to you in three different sizes; 4”, 5” and 6”. The length of each Neck Tiez is double their width/block size. Both are made in the usual Stargazey style of easy cutting and piecing – no templates or intricate matching of seams and corners – giving you the usual quirky and crooked look. Set your quilt differently.... make it with Bow Tiez as the feature? Work with recycled tiez perhaps with shirting as your backgrounds? Or just make it bigger to suit your reclining/napping/not-at-work-right-now male.

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

This PDF quilting pattern includes full fabric requirements, cutting instructions and step-by-step assembly guidance. You may customise it to your desired quilt size.

sample size – 44 1/2” x 56” (113 cm x 143 cm)
Neck Tiez – 1 yd (1 m) of assorted colours
Neck tiez background – 2 yds (1.8 m) of assorted colours
Bow tiez – 1 yd (1 m) of assorted colours
Bow tiez background – 1yd (1 m) of assorted colours
Inner border and binding – 1/2 yd (50 cm) of assorted colours
Binding - 14” (35cm) - although I used scraps here
also needed; batting, backing and thread

With freeform blocks like this, fabric requirements will vary from quilt to quilt. I give you minimums only. Be generous with your purchases as extra can always be used in the backing.
