Needlez & Threadz Quilt Pattern PDF

The humble but decorative cotton reel block is rewarded with a Stargazey make over, goes deliciously ‘crooked’, and is renamed Threadz. It’s teamed here with some Needlez to continue the sewing theme, then topped off with a lovely Stitchez border to tie everything together. No set in seams, as in the traditional version, no templates, just basic cutting from squares and rectangles in Stargazey ‘loose cutting, loose piecing methods.

Block sizes for both Needlez and Threadz are 4”, 6” and 8”, but the Needlez are made as rectangles not squares. I have made a row by row version of the various Threadz sizes but have only used the 6” Needlez. My sample will hopefully be merely the starting point for your creatively pieced endeavours. FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

This PDF quilting pattern includes full fabric requirements, cutting instructions and step-by-step assembly guidance. You may customise it to your desired quilt size.

Sample size - 49 1/2” x 64” (126 cm x 160 cm)
Spoolz - 2 yds (2 m) of assorted blacks
Threadz - 1 1/2 yds (1.5 m) of assorted striped fabrics
Needlez - scraps of assorted neutrals
Block backgrounds - 1 1/2 yds (1.5 m) of assorted colours
Outer border backgrounds - 1 1/2 yds (1.5 m) of assorted colours
Borders, Inner & Outer Stitchez - 1 1/2 yds (1.5 m) of a tiny black print
Binding - 1/2yd (40cm) - of a striped fabric
also needed; batting, backing and thread

With freeform blocks like this, fabric requirements will vary from quilt to quilt. I give you minimums only. Be generous with your purchases as extra can always be used in the backing
