Sailboatz Quilt Pattern PDF

Whipping up a stack of Stargazey Sailboatz is a breeze! As is usually the case with Stargazey patterns there will be little exact cutting, few exact seams, and no templates to worry about. Relax and design your quilt to suit you – the sample is only the starting point.

I give you the “recipe” for 6”, 8” & 10” blocks as merely the base to create from. My sample utilizes all three sizes.

Also included are the instructions for flags, here they are used to sail around but they could be used in many other ways.

Crazy style piecing has been used to fill my seas and skies. Your blocks, squared up, would sit just as nicely framed with sashing or in simple same size rows. Fabrics may be scrappy like mine or based on a single favourite. Colour, too, need not be traditional sea tones as you can see by the cover photo.

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

This PDF quilting pattern includes full fabric requirements, cutting instructions and step-by-step assembly guidance. You may customise it to your desired quilt size.

Sample size - 45” x 55” (115 cm x 140 cm)
Sailz – 3/4 yd (60 cm) of assorted creams
Hullz –1/2 yd (50 cm) of assorted browns
Mastz – scraps of various browns, or a single fat quarter
Seaz – 2 yds (1.5 m) of assorted blacks
Skiez – 2 yds (1.5 m) of assorted yellows
Binding - 1/3 yd (30cm) - although I usually use scraps
also needed; batting, backing and thread

With freeform blocks like this, fabric requirements will vary from quilt to quilt. I give you minimums only. Be generous with your purchases as extra can always be used in the backing.
