Stargazey patterns give you permission to make something beautiful without needing to be perfect

This is one of the easier Stargazey patterns. It will still introduce you to new techniques, is easily cut and pieced to create unique crooked blocks but basically it’s just a grand load of splitting and restitching!

I have designed six different 10” blocks, varying in complexity. My sample contains all six blocks, but it is also stunning made by repeating only one block and thinking of the strips as woven threads. I guarantee no two quilts will look alike with permutations of colour, fabric, block style and setting making the possibilities truly endless.

This quilt would be great for the man in your life or just lovely draped over the family room couch. Colours can be bright like mine, based on traditional tartans, or even delicious in gelati colours for a young gal.

This pattern also includes setting instructions for;
Tartanz #3 - wild rhythmz,
& Tartanz #4 - flannel tartanz.

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

This PDF quilting pattern includes full fabric requirements, cutting instructions and step-by-step assembly guidance. You may customise it to your desired quilt size.

Sample size - 50” x 70“ (127 cm x 177 cm)
*If you are buying fabric specifically for this quilt either purchase 12” (30 cm) cuts, or if you would like to make the border blocks as well, then 1/2 yard (50 cm) cuts are economical. Colour choices are unlimited. A monochromatic like mine is serene but contrasting colours, large prints and solids will all work beautifully too.

Block backgrounds – 2 3/4 yds (2.4 m) of assorted reds
Border backgrounds – 1 1/2 yds (1.2 m) of assorted reds
Block strips – 3/4 yd (60 cm) of blues, golds, greens, purples and aquas
Border strips – 1/2 yd (50 cm) of blues, golds, greens, purples and aqua
also needed; binding, batting, backing and thread

With freeform blocks like this, fabric requirements will vary from quilt to quilt. I give you minimums only. Be generous with your purchases as extra can always be used in the backing.
