A tropical wedding gift

These letters originally arrived in stamped envelopes with glossy, printed photos (remember those days!). To protect our writers' privacy, we've typed up their notes with minor details changed. We also scanned and brightened the original photos so you can see the quilts in their best light.

Maureen from Palm Beach sent Jan this photograph with a note:

"Jan, this was given as a wedding present. The bride said it was her favourite gift."

There is something special about a handmade quilt being chosen as a wedding gift. Long after the celebration is over, it becomes part of a couple's home and a reminder of the love and care that went into making it.

Inspired by Jan's Pineapplez quilt pattern, Maureen has created two borders of pineapples surrounding a turquoise sea.
