Stargazey crazy hearts quilt pattern

These letters originally arrived in stamped envelopes with glossy, printed photos (remember those days!). To protect our writers' privacy, we've typed up their notes with minor details changed. We also scanned and brightened the original photos so you can see the quilts in their best light.

Stargazey crazy hearts and a pattern of her own design

Anne from South Australia shares two vibrant quilts made by her adventurous daughters, including a colorful take on our crazy hearts pattern.

Dear Jan,

I met you some years ago at Quilt Encounter. I wasn't one of your students, I was in another class.

I am not as bold as you with color when doing my patchwork, however as the enclosed photos testify, two of my daughters have been absorbing the craft and of course are more adventurous. The crazy hearts was your pattern, and my daughter found it easy to piece and we bought hand-dyed fabric to sash it. She loves it.

The star quilt was my other daughter's own creation, her own patterns and fabric choices. {Name removed} needed some help with construction, technical only. She did Quilt As You Go (a bit hard to see from the photo, large stars in the color blocks) then we assembled it and I machined in the ditch for her. We love them.

You'll see my Treasure Box quilt hung outside a craft/jewelry design shop at the "Sisters" quilt show.
